Jim Pex has been fishing the Oregon coast ever since his father snuck him out of bed at the age of 5 to go out in the Ocean without telling Mom. It didn’t end up so good for dad that day, but in the end created a fishing drive in his son that still exists.

Jim is licensed and insured by the US Coast Guard and The State of Oregon to provide services out to 100 miles.

Trail is paved for the first half-mile to a viewing area and several picnic sites. From there the trail is not accessible for wheel chairs. The trail then turns and goes down to the open dunes that leads to the beach. Find out how a dunes restoration project maintains the view and access to the dunes for this popular trail. Look for signs showing where snowy plover habitat areas are located. Please respect the birds’ privacy when nesting, March 15-September 15.

Three accessible viewpoints provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy the Oregon Dunes. Recreation Pass required, sold on site or at local visitor centers.

Directions:

From Reedsport travel north on Highway 101 for 11 miles. The entrance to the Oregon Dunes Day Use is located on the west side of Highway 101.
