This time of year; everyone is looking for a heaping bowl of hot Clam Chowder to keep us going, right? I checked with
some of our local aficionados to see who officially has “the best Clam Chowder in town” and wanted to share this info with visitors!
The key is to know the local secrets. Some of the best Clam Chowders around are only made on specific days in unlikely places- and you just have to know about it to enjoy. Here are some of the secrets that I was able to uncover:
Davey Jones Locker – this is just a little convenience store but they have a great deli area. On Saturday’s only they serve a rocking clam chowder, don’t wait too long to go though, once its gone…its gone. Cape Arago Highway & Boat Basin Rd, Charleston, (541) 888-3941
Sozo’s Tea & Coffee House – Friday only. Thick and meaty, the way it was meant to be. It goes quick so don’t miss out. 1955 Union Street, North Bend
Cuisine: coffee, various

Outdoor-In This pizza and indoor playground is perfect for the kids, and is not the usual place you’d think of for Clam Chowder. In a recent poll, they were voted the #1 Clam Chowder on the South Coast and its well deserved. Clam Chowder is available daily; 305 South 4th Street, Coos Bay Cuisine: burgers, pizza, various 541-266-8111
High Tide Café A roaring fire place, awesome fish & chips, great beer, and over the top Clam Chowder. Served daily and definitely a meal all on its own. This place got lots of recommendations from our Facebook Community- everyone seems to love Thursday Nights and the Dale Innskeep Band…. 91124 Cape Arago Hwy, Charleston Cuisine: pacific northwest, seafood
